My Version of Antique Mason Jars

One of the first things that I was very excited about was making the center pieces for the reception. I really had no idea what I wanted to do until I was in a goodwill looking around and the burst of inspiration came. I love the antique teal mason jars, but unfortunately they sometimes cost an arm and a leg. So I just decided to make my own.   I bought used vases and jars all different shapes and sizes. I like having variety.  Then dyed them the color I wanted. Little did I know that there are many different ways to do this, the one I tried looks really good, but it is not water proof. Which is why I painted the outside instead of the inside.

For this project you will need :   OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Any Glass vase or jar, Mod Podge, food coloring (i used blue and green for the antique look)
Paint brush and water.

Pour a couple Tablespoons of ModPodge. Add drops of food coloring. I like to add around 5 drops of blue to 2 green.

Brush on the first coat and let it dry completely.

It will look clear when its dry.

Add as many coats as you want until its just the shade you are looking for.

There’s a few of the many Brandon and I made. After the wedding I will post pictures of how they look with flowers in them. And after that I will show you how I want to use these in our house. I like things that I can use more than once.

Hope you had fun!
